It is our Islamic responsibility to educate and nurture our Children in Deen. Belief in the Prophets and Messangers is one of the six pillars of faith.
“Say (O Muslims), “We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibraheem, Isma’eel, Ishaaque, Ya’qoob and to Al-Asbaat (the twelve sons of Ya’qoob), and that which has been given to Moosa and Eesa, and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to him we have submitted (in Islam). So if they believe in the like of that which you believe, then they are rightly guided, but if they turn away then they are only in opposition….”
(Surah Al-Baqarah (2): 136-137)
*A Messenger is a man who had received from Allah a new message to teach the people.
*A Prophet is a man who was sent by Allah to teach a message that was given to a messenger.
*Every Messenger was also a Prophet, because he was required to teach a message that Allah revealed to him. But not every Prophet was a Messenger, because some Prophets did not come with new messages.

Shaykh Al-Albaanee (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
“A Prophet is sent affirming a previous law. On the other hand a Messenger is sent by Allah with a law, new or old to which he calls the people.”
