Alhamdulilah there are many Muslim parenting books to choose from, giving advice on raising our children upon Quran and Sunnah.
I decided to select my favourite Muslim parenting books with you, which are not only enjoyable to read but will also help us to adhere to the Quran and Sunnah. These Muslim Parenting Books will help to either refresh or teach us new knowledge and help us strive to be better parents In Shaa Allah.
OUR PRECIOUS SPROUTS (ISLAMIC REGULATIONS FOR NEWBORNS)
This book is written by Sheikh Muhammad Al-Jibaly, it covers the Islamic regulations relating to a newborn. This includes welcoming the baby, naming it, shaving its hair, circumcising it, The Aqiqah, breastfeeding, protection from the evil eye, babiesâ€™ toys, birthdays and much more!
I really enjoyed reading this book, itâ€™s very easy to read and understand with lots of evidence from the Quran and Sunnah. Itâ€™s also great for quick referencing when looking for an answer to a related topic mashallah.
ISLAMIC FATAAWA REGARDING THE MUSLIM CHILD
This book has over 150 Fataawa concerningThe Muslim Child answered by: Sheikh Abdul Azeez ibn Abdullah ibn Baaz, Sheikh Muhammad ibn Saaleh al-Uthaimeen, Sheikh Abdullah ibn Abdur-Rahmaan ibn al-Jibreen, Sheikh Saa;eh ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan and The Permanent Committee for the deliverance of legal rulings.
This book covers matters regarding belief – for example: â€œChildren are bestowed by the will and decree of Allahâ€, naming the child, The Aqeeqah, purification â€“ for example, â€œif a woman bathes her child whilst she is in a state of wudhu, is it obligatory for her to repeat her wudhu?â€, The prayer, zakat and wealth of an orphan, fasting, hajj, breastfeeding, grievous bodily crimes, good upbringing, education, clothing, toys and much more topics!
I would definitely recommend this book, it is very interesting to read and can even be read as a quick reference due to the format of the book as questions and answers.
CHILD EDUCATION IN ISLAM
This book is written by Dr Abdullah Nasih â€˜Ulwan, it outlines the basic Islamic concepts in child education. You can find many Hadith and Quraranic verses referenced throughout the book and although this book has over 400 pages mashallah, it is definitely a book you wonâ€™t want to put down. It covers various topics such as, the responsibilities of educators, causes and treatment of childrenâ€™s waywardness, effective means of childrenâ€™s education, giving the child the opportunity to play and be entertained, the daily educational program and much more!
â€œCare is to be taken in providing young children with all the necessary elements in the fields of ethical, physical and psychological education. This cannot be overemphasizedâ€. This book really gets you to think deeply about various factors to consider in relation to raising our children.
TEACHING CHILDREN TAWHEED
This book is written by Shaykhul-Islam Muhammad bin â€˜Abdul-Wahab. The noble Imam wrote this book in order to direct us to these matters which we must have knowledge of and then teach our children, comprising important fundamentals of the religion of Islaam. This book is written in the form of questions and answers. There are also examples from the Quran and the Authentic Sunnah and statements of the Salaf related to raising children.
â€œAaâ€™ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that a Bedouin man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and he said: Do you kiss the children? We donâ€™t kiss them!â€ The Prophet (peace be upon him) said â€œI cannot put mercy in your heart after Allah has taken it away from itâ€â€ (Al-Bukhaaree, Kitaabul-Adab)
I really do love this book mashallah and the style it has been written in. Itâ€™s definitely a must read and a book that you can read again and again!
A WOMANS GUIDE TO RASING A FAMILY
This book is written by Shahkh Salih Al-Fawzan, it talks about the natural place of the woman (in her home), exiting the home and going to work or teach outside of the home, the meaning of â€˜familyâ€™ and its importance, family is a blessing, responsibilities of the woman, her duties and much more.
This is definitely a good book for us sisters/mothers alhamdulilah. Whether you are married or not yet married, have children or before you start a familyâ€¦ It is both important and beneficial for us to know what our responsibilities and duties are so that we can strive hard in fulfilling them in shaa Allah.
RAISING CHILDREN IN THE LIGHT OF THE QURâ€™AAN AND SUNNAH
This book is written by Abdus-Salaam bin â€˜Abdillaah As-Sulaymann, with an introduction by Shaikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan. â€œAlthough short in size, this book offers a wealth of beneficial advice and guidelines on raising children in Islaam starting from the age of infancy to the years of adolescence.â€
â€œThe Prophet (peace be upon him) said: â€œwhen the son of Aadam dies, his (good) deeds come to an end except for three.â€ And then he mentioned amongst them: â€œOr a righteous child that supplicates himâ€â€ (Abu Hurairah, May Allah be pleased with him). This book talks about things such as; accustoming the child to have good manners and a righteous character, fortifying the home with Qurâ€™aan, words of remembrance and prayer, teaching them the Noble Qurâ€™aan, choosing a school, choosing a friend, raising them upon obedience to Allah and his Messenger, playing and having fun with the child, giving them a Kunyah and much more!
